This small CdS (Cadmium Sulphide) optical sensor utilises the optical properties of an intrinsic semi-conductor to achieve low noise, wide response and high resistance within a small 'coated' body. It's specification falls in line with most security / outside light applications.
This photocell cell has lead-free terminals that will withstand a soldering temperature of up to 260°C for 3 seconds at a distance of 5mm from its base. This makes it suitable for applications granted freedom to use CdS cells by an exclusion from RoHS.
Please note that because the photocell contains Cadmuin Sulphide it cannot be fully RoHS compliant. For a RoHS compliant alternative, please see the Light Sensors page.
