Ceramic
Resonators are small, low cost, extremely stable frequency control
components, operating over wide temperature and frequency ranges.
They are ideally suited to set microcontroller clock frequency with
no in-circuit adjustment necessary. Ceramic resonators are favoured
because of their resistance to shock, mechanical vibration and quick
rise time. Also available with built-in load capacitances, savings
can be made in component placement time and, more significantly, PCB
area.
